Designer's notes

The 4-day 'Los Dientes de Navarino' is the world's southernmost trek, a 55km circuit in a remote and magnificent wilderness.

Seasoned Patagonia trekkers hold this route in awe, though it is little known outside the region.

It is not to be undertaken lightly. At any time walkers can be exposed to unstable weather conditions, including high winds, rain and snow-and swooped on by condors!

Favoured months are December to March.

DAY 1
D

Fly to Puerto Williams

Today make your way to Punta Arenas airport for your flight to Chile's most southern town, and the starting point for one of the most spectacular treks in the country with a short 40 minute flight to Puerto Williams. You arrive onto the Island of Navarino on one of the southernmost areas of Tierra del Fuego, and are taken to your lodges located a short distance from the air strip on the outskirts of town. You have some time to drop off your luggage, before this afternoon you visit the OMORA Ethno-Botanical Park to see the forests of lichens, moss, and bryophytes before you then head back to your accommodation for your pre-trek briefing and dinner.

Start the Los Dientes Circuit

Today you start the Los Dientes de Navarino Trek. The day starts with amazing views over the Beagle channel and Puerto Williams town as you head towards Salto Lagoon and the first night of camping. There are two possible paths to take that are determined locally based on the weather conditions, including either the higher or lower areas of the Robalo valley. The landscape is stunning on each route, and you arrive to the campsite in time for a warm dinner. Total walking time today is between 4-5 hours.

DAY 3

Crossing the Dientes de Navarino Cordillera

Today the trek takes in fabulous views across Nassau Bay, and over the Wollastan Islands, both part of Cape Horn. Cross the Dientes de Navarino Cordillera passing lakes until you climb the Ventarron path for a vantage point over Dientes de Navarino themselves and Mount Codrington. Continue to Laguna Martillo, and the second campsite. Total walking time today is between 5-6 hours.

DAY 4
BLD

The Guerrico Valley

Today the trek continues to the Guerrico Valley, a trail with views over the Montes Lindemayer, and through more forested landscapes. Climb Virginia pass for a panoramic view over the mountains and the sea of Tierra del Fuego. You camp tonight and walking for the day is around 6 hours.

DAY 5
BLD

Return to Puerto Williams

Today is the last day of trekking and is generally between 4-5 hours. The trail is largely downhill towards the ocean and the Lakutaia Lodge, in time for lunch and then to have the remainder of the day at leisure. There is this afternoon the option to walk around the village or simply relax around the lodge before a final dinner before sleeping in the lodge this evening.
