Fly Porlamar/Caracas e.g. R7784 11.30/12.20 (daily) assistance to change planes in Caracas Fly Caracas/Puerto Ordaz e.g. R7745 16.00/17.00 (daily) You will be met on arrival at Puerto Ordaz airport and transferred to a hotel for a positioning night. Note: prepare to store some luggage here as there is a weight restriction of just 10kg pp on the light planes which operate in/out from Canaima.
a.m. transfer back to Puerto Ordaz airport for a flight by light plane to Canaima, landlocked in the heart of the Gran Sabana, only accessible by air. Fly Puerto Ordaz/Canaima 09.00/10.30 daily (10kg luggage weight restriction pp) you will be met on arrival at the landing strip and transferred to a local guest house in Canaima where you stay for three nights. P.m. boat ride on the Canaima Lagoon to Hacha Falls and walk behind mighty Sapo Waterfall (be prepared to get wet!).
Free day based at Canaima from where there are wonderful views across the sandy shored lagoon to Hacha Falls and distant table mountains. A range of optional, shared, excursions can be booked locally. The choice of tours available will depend on the riverl levels and visitor demand as minimum numbers are required for some activities. Second free day based at Canaima for relaxation / optional excursions.
a.m. transfer to the landing strip at Canaima for a flight back to Puerto Ordaz Fly Canaima/Puerto Ordaz Tras 11.30/13.00 (10 kg weight allowance) assistance to change planes and catch an onwards flight back to Caracas for a positioning night as there are no late afternoon / early evening flights to Los Roques. Fly Puerto Ordaz/Caracas 14.00/15.00 (20kg baggage allowance) or 18.00/19.00 You will be met on arrival and transferred back to the hotel where you stayed on your first night, on the coast near Caracas airport. Rest of the day is free to relax by the hotel's pool.
a.m. transfer back to Caracas airport for morning flight to the coral archipelago of Los Roques Note: prepare to store some luggage in Caracas - at extra cost locally Fly Caracas/ Los Roques Chapi 09.00/09.30 daily (10 kg luggage allowance) or earlier if preferred e.g. 0600 daily except Sun. You will be met on arrival at Los Roques' landing strip and transferred to a guest house for a stay of four nights on a full board basis.
Relaxing at the beach. Each day the lodge provides trips to nearby coral islands for swimming, sunbathing and optional snorkelling, with your own sun umbrellas, deck chairs and a cool-box with refreshments and picnic lunch. The local dive school offers ‘baptism’ dives for beginners and a range of options for certified divers. It is possible to pay locally to be transferred to more remote islands in the archipelago. There is also windsurfing rental out on one of the cayos.
At Los Roques - with a transfer by boat to one of the nearby coral islands with a cool box of refreshmenst, sun umbrella and deckchairs for relaxation, sunbathing, swimming and optional snorkellling.

Due to its convenience for Caracas airport, the coastal town of Macuto is the ideal place to stay for a positioning night. All the hotels here are rather characterless. Ole Caribe is the best of the 4* options, but nothing special. All the rooms have: Satellite TV, a/c, mini-bar, hair-dryer, security box and the hotel has a swimming pool.

This is our favourite hotel on Margarita Island, located on in a remote part of the island it is the perfect place to relax with a stock of books. It is a stylish small 6 roomed hotel situated in a walled garden stocked with flowering tropical plants, set around a lovely swimming pool 7 mins walk from Playa Caribe Beach. Each "house", has an upstairs, galleried bedroom with a living room and bathroom downstairs. These all have air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini bar, telephone, TV / VHS and a private patio with hammock. A spacious palm-thated churuata (airy round structure) houses a bar area and small restaurant for hotel guests. The hotel has its own "beach" club on Playa Caribe.

Situated one sandy street from the beach this posada has a lovely relaxed beachcomber ambience.
Guests stay on a full board basis and are taken out to one of the nearby coral islands with a sun umbrella, picnic lunch and deck chairs each day. Delicious Italian home cooking. Very caring and personable owners who are often in residence.
