This is primarily a birding lodge. At Rancho Naturalista your stay includes the services of a resident professional birding guide who is available every day.

Accommodation

Rancho Naturalista has 15 casitas some with their own veranda and others with balconies. Most of them also have private bathrooms.

Food

Guests stay on a full board basis. Kathleen Erb one of the owners has an extensive background in fine cuisine and has personally trained all the kitchen staff. Meals are varied with a mixture of traditional and international food. All meals are served family style so guests can help themselves.

Facilities

The main building of the lodge has a comfortable seating area with a large dining area and extended birding balcony. There is a reference area which is stocked with various bird related literature.

Children are welcome but there are no specific facilities in place.

Very good food and excellent bird feeder arrangements. The moth trapping was excellent.

We enjoyed Rancho Naturalista. The food was good and the staff welcoming. The room was ok - not sure if it was worth the amount though - very basic. We did not walk any of the trails there as we were both unwell and also it was raining most of the time.

The food was super. The guides at the lodge were delightful. We had a free morning in the forest and a second morning at Silent Mountain.

What a wonderful place! Excellent guide, fantastic habitat and great food!
