Beach holidays in Venezuela
Venezuela has more Caribbean coast than all the Caribbean islands put together, and plenty of sun and good weather.
Venezuela has almost every kind of beach to choose from: small palm-fringed bays, long sweeps of soft sand, and the Caribbean’s only coral archipelago—Los Roques.
Venezuela's weather is generally good, especially at the coast. The possibility that your time at the beach will be spoiled by less than perfect weather is extremely low on Los Roques, where the sun shines practically 365 days a year and rain is very infrequent.
You can be pretty sure of good weather on the beaches of Margarita Island.
Beaches on the Venezuelan mainland are usually sunny, but there are some months where the chance of rain increases.
Naturally, Venezuelans love the beach. Beaches anywhere near a major city, particularly Caracas, are likely to be lively at week-ends and crowded in local holiday seasons between Christmas and New Year, at Carnival, and before Easter. But that still leaves plenty for the rest of us.
Here and there are good places to stay: small beach hotels and up-market posadas that are comfortable and well-run, with good food and often nicely chic accommodation. We have stayed in almost all of the ones we recommend (and inspected scores of others).
