Day Walks on Trinidad
A real slice of island life, staying mostly in small guesthouses and walking with local guides.
Port of Spain
Day 1 On arrival in Port of Spain you are transferred to a guesthouse in a quiet suburb.
Luango Loop
Day 2 BL You are collected by your Trini hiking guide who will escort you throughout your time on the island. Transfer to Maracas Bay for a circular walk on the ‘Luango Loop’, then on to Blanchisseuse for 3 nights at Laguna Mar (p13).
Paria Falls & Paria Bay
Day 3 BL Walk with your guide part-way along Trinidad’s undeveloped north coast. There is a good clear forest trail.
Blanchisseuse
Day 4 BL Enjoy village life in Blanchisseuse. This is a linear fishing village which stretches out along a long, long local beach with good walking opportunities on the sands.
East Coast
Day 5 BLD Transfer to the wild, impressive, palm fringed unspoilt east coast of Trinidad, visiting Bush Bush Reserve, and staying at a local guesthouse in Mayaro for 2 nights.
Trinity Hills
Day 6 BLD Hike with your guide in the Trinity Hills Sanctuary.
South Central Trinidad
Day 7 BL Cross the remote south central part of Trinidad. You will visit Oropucho Lagoon, Erin, Icacos Point and the famous Pitch Lake. Overnight at a guesthouse in San Fernando.
Point a Pierre & Caroni Swamp
Day 8 BL Visit Point a Pierre Wildfowl Trust and Waterloo mud flats then a boat tour in Caroni Swamp (p8). Overnight at your Port of Spain guesthouse for the next 2 nights.
El Tucuche
Day 9 BL An (optional) strenuous and exhilarating trek to the top of Trinidad’s second highest mountain (3100ft).
Port of Spain
Day 10 B Transfer to the airport for your international flight home or on to Tobago for a beach extension.
