Canopy Tower

Semaphore Hill
rating

Average rating 5.0 (7 ratings)

Canopy Tower is a substantial round metal tower built by the US military as a radar station. It is situated on the top of Semaphore Hill within the Soberenia National Park. The tower's five levels offer different views of the forest around it.

Most overnight guests stay on the second floor, located right in the middle of the canopy, 28 feet (8.5 meters) above the ground. All double occupancy rooms have private facilities though due to the difficulty of plumbing the radar tower guests are encouraged to just take rapid "military style" hot showers.

Single rooms share bathroom facilities.

The top floor is used as the main dining and lounge area, and is completely surrounded by panoramic windows. There are super views across the forest from the roof terrace above.

Note: lots of stairs (no lift). This is a dedicated birdwatchers lodge with a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights.

They have their own specialist bird guides which can be booked on a shared or a private basis.
