Galapagos Explorer II
Galapagos Explorer II was built in 1990 and has been operating in the Galapagos since 1998. Her cruising speed of 14.5 knots enables her to visit the remoter islands in the archipelago.
She offers a boutique, library, bar, conference room, restaurant, swimming pool, solarium, observatory deck, 24 hour coffee and tea station, medical assistance including a health professional on board on 24hr call, massage suite, and satellite communication.
Her guest accommodation consists of 50 suites, all exterior and each with similar decor. Every suite has a sitting area, convertible double beds and an extra sofa bed for triple configurations, mini-bar, TV, marble bathroom, private safety deposit box, walk-in or large closets, air-conditioning, satellite communication, 110/220 volt outlets, hair dryer, and vanity dresser. Except on the Magellan Deck, suites have panoramic windows rather than portholes.
A staff of six multilingual naturalist guides accompany shore visits and guests receive a free guide book. There is a naturalist room and a biologist on board from the Charles Darwin Research Station.
Vegetarian and most special diets (such as low sodium) can be provided.
As well as the usual Zodiacs for ship-to-shore transfer, Galapagos Explorer has two glass bottom boats for an underwater experience without diving or snorkelling.
