Choosing a Galapagos Cruise for Bird-watching
Choosing a Galapagos cruise for bird-watching is a matter of choosing which islands have the birds you would like to see, and then choosing the cruise that visits those islands.
The following distribution lists may assist when comparing cruise itineraries from a birders' perspective. Full bird lists for the Galapagos run to about 140 species.
These lists are adapted from the excellent A Guide to Birdwatching in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, Robert S. Williams, Brinley J. Best and Tom Heijnen (Biosphere Publications, 1996), but this is in turn based on field guides by Harris (1984), Grant (1984) and Jackson (1993). So far as we know there is no more up-to-date list of similar authority, but we would be grateful to hear of any.
